THE MLANJENI MAGICAL THEATER SEASON:
FALL: The Fall shows are programs that focus on MANNERS.
One covers MANNERS in the home with family and friends, one covers MANNERS in school
and other settings, and one covers the seven magic WORDS OF GOOD MANNERS.
WINTER: The December show is "DECEMBER HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD", the customs,
decorations, foods, music and stories are touched on. January looks at the life of Dr. Martin
Luther King and the U.S. Civil Rights Movement in story and songs in "I REMEMBER DR.
KING." The February show "THE JOURNEY: VOYAGES IN AFRICAN-AMERICAN
HISTORY" features stories, music, and game-songs on the lives of various African-
American figures in history.
SPRING: Spring shows focus on the changes in weather, the return of flowers, insects, and various and
animals.
SUMMER: Summer shows are a part of the "Silly Series" with the focus on light -hearted fun.
Stories are presented around familiar characters from folk and fairy tales.
The specific shows change from year to year, but the popular show themes remain. Additional shows are added to the roster each year depending on requests , e.g. a safety show may be added to the Fall roster, or a show on Women's History Month in the Spring. All of the shows have our usual Muungamano - mixture of puppets, magical illusions, comedy, music and storytelling tailored to young audiences.
